Keaton and Alfie on the scoresheet again as Lions overturn Juno

After losing last week it was vital for Lions to secure their first win of the season.

Lions are without striker Layton W today so if they are going to come up with the goals they will have to do it without him.

Lions line up this week with a different formation, Freddie starts in goal, Miller and Alex make up a new look back line, Ronny sits in his familiar left wing role, whilst Alfie again takes his place on the right wing, Lions scrap the defensive midfielder this week, Theo H sits upfront with Keaton sat just behind. Theo E and Leighton S take a place on the bench chomping at the bit to get on to impress.

Lions Kick us off on this dull Autumn look morning, immediately taking possession into the Juno half, Keaton looking to get this one over early as he dances through the Juno team firing a shot just wide of the goal, very close to an opening goal there.

Lions looking hugely on top in the opening 10 minutes as chances fall to Alfie, Keaton and Theo H, who are unlucky not to break the deadlock.

Finally though that moment does come and you don't need to use too much of your imagination for who gets it, a great bit of play by Ronny down the left hand side, cuts the ball back inside to Theo H who T's up Keaton who finishes easy to the keepers right, a lovely shot into the bottom corner, 1-0 and a great start by Lions.

Coaches Chris and Andy see a vital selection of errors from the Juno keeper who constantly decides to place the ball down on the floor forcing errors of their own making throughout the Juno back line, therefore Leighton S is introduced from the bench to terrify the Juno back line even more.

A rare  chance of the half falls to Juno who break clear of the Lions defense leaving Freddie with a 1 v 1 situation, he does what he does so well and charges out of his goal to clear the ball from danger.

Further chances continue to fall to Lions throughout the remainder of the half but the score remains 1-0 to Lions as they fail to capitalize on the 1 goal cushion.

A much easier half time team talk for the Lions coaches this week as they tell their players to simply continue the onslaught on the Juno goal.

Theo E is introduced from the bench this time hoping the lively youngster can help cement a well deserved win for Lions.

Second half underway now and Lions continue to show no remorse and pepper the Juno keeper with more shots.

Theo H, Theo E, Leighton S, Alfie and Keaton all going close only to be denied by a whisker or great goalkeeping.

However moments later the lead was extended as Keaton runs onto a great ball from Theo H, darts inside to again smash a ball past the helpless Juno goalkeeper 2-0 and surely the points are in the bag now.

The second half continued to be very much the same with the odd rare chance falling to Juno only for it to be mopped up by Miller and Alex who have been sensational all afternoon.

Before the full time whistle blows Lions showed they were not yet done as Alfie picks up the ball midway into the Juno half, he hits a spectacular effort which fires into the back of the net, clipping the post on its way in and surely he wont score many better than that throughout the season, great effort and 3-0 Lions home and dry. The final whistle does blow....

it's those two again who continue their great start  to the season, scoring one a piece last week against Brendan Bees and again today Alfie takes 1 whilst Keaton adds another 2 to his tally.

This puts the boys in a great position for the cup match next week vs Uppermill, final score 3-0, a comfortable afternoon in the end which really should have been 5 or 6, it is only right that Miller and Freddie are mentioned for the contributions to the clean sheet, both had been great, but what a performance from young Alex in only his second game as a defender, he takes man of the match.

Goalscorers: Keaton (2)

Alfie (1)

Man of the match: Alex
