We are back in action this week after last weeks postponement against Reddish North End due to the snow. This time for the 3rd and final time of the season vs Signol Athletic. Lions pose 2 wins in 2 against Signol so far this season, however this was not going to be an easy task as Signol will be looking for revenge.

Chris and Andy ring the changes this week, no complacency in mind but they are looking to give other players a go in other positions, Alfie starts in goal for the first time this season, he was sensational last season so he seems like the perfect man to replace Freddie in the sticks. Lions go strong with a partnership of Keaton and Theo H at the back, Leighton the terrier out on the right hand side, Alex operating the left flank, Freddie has been given some time to stretch his legs and possibly the chance of a goal as he starts upfront, Ronny alongside him in search of his first goal in orange. Layton, Miller and Theo E await patiently on the side.

Lions kick off and taking possession immediately into the Signol half. A very, very dull first half with no efforts on goal from either side, very much played around the midfield area. Signol unable to break down the tough ask of Keaton and Theo whilst Lions have no urgency upfront. A positive note for Lions though and that is how much running Freddie has done, he has truly been brilliant however Andy and Chris expected to call in the heavy artillery at the half way point.

Half time whistle blows, discussions prior on the sideline from Chris and Andy as they attempt to plan a way to break down Signol. 

​

Freddie is called back into goal, Miller comes on to play at the back alongside Theo H, Ronny on the left, Alfie on the right and Theo E and Keaton push upfront.

Immediately more intent from Lions as we kick off the second half, surging into the Signol half as they bombard them with shots, Keaton playing like a man possessed pushes his team forward combining with Alfie on half way, Alfie spreads the ball to Ronny who cuts it back inside, Alfie picks it up again, sees Keaton lurking on the edge of the area, threads the ball to Keaton, Keaton plows forward and wrong foots the goalkeeper to finish hard and low into the bottom left hand corner!! its 1-0 to Lions. 

Lions continue to push, Alfie again forcing the team forward, picks out Ronny over on the left, its too long for him though as Ronny continues to chase the ball, Ronny catches it and plays it off a Signol defender for a corner, hes hurt himself in the process though as he goes over on his ankle, this does not look good, Andy goes over to assess, he carries him back over to the touchline and Layton W is on to replace him. The corner is taken, inswinger by Alfie, its beaten away by Signol but only as far as Theo H who is in a more advanced role now, plays it back to Alfie who is waiting near the edge of the area, Alfie sees the keeper off his line, strikes a lovely ball, it's going in surely... wow some effort but it comes back off the inside of the post and Signol goalkeeper scrambles away. How did that not go in? Lions really stepping up the pressure now as they hunt for a second goal, Layton W fancies himself this time, as Keaton plays a lovely ball in, Layton strikes one... its back off the post again!! for the second time in the game the post has been rattled!

Back down the other end for a rare chance for Signol, Miller on his own, it's 3 against 1 surely and equalizer, The Signol striker about to release... Miller slides in with a wonderful last ditch tackle and clears the ball to safety for a Signol corner. 

Mouth watering game we have on our hands here... corner comes in, Theo clears the ball but the second ball comes in its fired at goal but a wonderful stop by Freddie! he saves his team there with a great save. Score still 1-0.

Ronny re enters the field, he looks OK thankfully.

Freddie plays the ball to Theo H, he drives out of defense, plays the ball to Keaton on the half way line, Keaton takes on his man and finds Ronny in the box unmarked, could this be it...could this be his moment...Yes it is!!! he hits it with his un-favoured right boot and it goes past a helpless Signol goalkeeper, it's 2-0 and Ronny has his goal!! wonderful moment for him. 

Lions really running away with this one now. 

Andy and Chris make more changes as Leighton S enters the field for the final time this Morning. 

Lions on the attack again, Keaton again, so inspirational, beats his man and this time finds Theo E inside unmarked....Wow he's scored his second goal for the club with an absolute replica of Ronny's goal, it's 3-0, Chris and Andy delighted and well done to young Theo E.

One final moment before the full time whistle blows, Layton W trying his best to get on the score sheet, so unlucky as the final effort of the game is fired at the goalkeeper. 

​

Wonderful win for Lions as they start to find momentum Keaton first gets us off to a great start, Ronny next with his first goal for Lions and Theo E coming up trumps again with his second goal of the season. A great performance from everyone but Keaton is on fire, back with a bang as he scoops Man of the Match!! well done. See you next week for another big game vs Tintwistle Athletic.
