Theo E the man of the moment as he scores right at the death
Lions back in action again this week, this time against Dukinfield whom they only managed a 1-1 draw last time, however it was very much a 1 sided show in the previous fixture, Lions with the majority of possession and conceding what can only be described as a fluke goal.
However, Lions well prepared for this one as they go in hoping to get back to winning ways after losing their last 2 games.
Lions again starting the game with their usual line up. Freddie, Miller, Alfie, Keaton, Ronny, Theo H, Leighton S take centre stage.
Lions starting this game all over their opponents, pinning them in their own half for very much of the first half. Chance after chance falls to Lions but they are unable to capitalize. Shooting from distance and skewing way wide of the target.
Lions lose Leighton S early on due to a stomach issue, Theo E comes on to replace him.
Lions ring the changes as Alex and Layton W also enter the action, still no joy, The closes Lions came to taking the lead was produced by a great bit of magic by Keaton, turning his marker inside out and rattling the frame of the goal, the sides still tied at 0-0 going in at the break, but very much Lions dominant in this fixture but not really creating much in terms of chances.
A few tactical changes at the break by Andy and Chris, the second half starting very much like the first half ended and that is much of the play continuing in Dukinfield's half, Lions literally all over but can't get the ball in the net.
Time ticking away as Lions continue to threaten, Very much a gung ho approach now as Alfie is thrown upfront to give a different option, Lions caught too far up the pitch here as Dukinfield split the Lions defense, its 1 v 1, Freddie stands tall, And yes!!! a great save by the goalie, how did Freddie keep that out!
Time almost up now as Lions keep battling, Keaton again showing his magic down the left, slips a ball into the area, Theo E gets in front of his marker, has a go at it with his right boot, hits the keeper and somehow ends up in the bottom corner!!! that's it 1-0 to Lions, their dominance pays off and its a dream goal for Theo E because it looks like he's won the game for his team here.
One last chance maybe for Dukinfield, their players push forward, trickery by one of their pacey attackers, but not tricky enough as Alex intercepts and kicks the ball long down field. That's it!!! Lions have their win and boy did they need it, Theo E steals the show in what was a frustrating game for Lions, both teams cancelling each other out, not the prettiest of games from Lions as they didn't really pass that great today, but they wont care about that, what matters is the win, Theo E man of the match and man of the moment, not just for his goal but played a blinder all game and getting his foot into everything, well done!
Lions last game is next week against Hattersley, they will fancy this one as they know Hattersley haven't won a game this season so far. Lions must still respect their opponent because as we have seen, anything can happen in this league.
