Alex scoops man of the match as Lions slump to defeat

Lions hoping to get back on track after the draw last week.

Freddie in goal, Keaton and Alfie start in defense alongside each other, Alex on the left, Ronny on the right, Theo H makes a rare appearance upfront alongside Theo E who was excellent in training during the week, Leighton the terrier, Miller and Layton W all on the bench.

We are underway, nothing between the teams in the opening 10 with neither side really threatening. Andy and Chris replace Ronny on with Miller, Miller fills in at defense whilst Keaton is pushed forward.

Almost immediately that change works as Keaton drives forward, a lovely through ball to Theo H who is one on one with the goalkeeper... cool as you like he dispatches it past the goalkeeper and Lions take the lead.

Lions continue to pepper the opposition goal with shots but some marvelous keeping and slightly off cue shots keeps the score at 1 nothing Lions. We are approaching half way now as AFC Stanley still yet to register a shot on goal, however they bomb forward and hit Lions on the break, a great effort from the edge of the area and Freddie beats it behind for a corner with a lovely one handed save. The corner mounts to nothing though as Keaton clears to safety, Lions push forward and again are hit on the counter... this time a low and tame effort from the Stanley striker, Freddie collects with ease....but oh no... he doesn't he spills it into his own goal its 1-1 as we walk in at half time. That's so unlike Freddie.

Lions back out for the second half in search of that goal that would put them back in the lead. Caught again too far forward as Miller comes out to block a cross, unsuccessful though and Stanley with a 3 on 2 scenario...boom past Freddie who was rooted to the spot, its 1-2 to AFC Stanley. Again we kick off but intercepted by Stanley who take the ball forward again, Miller again caught out and the same result 1-3 and again Freddie didn't dive was the sun in his eyes perhaps?

Lions make changes as Alex is thrown upfront, Theo H alongside him, Keaton and Alfie also there to provide creativity to those attacks. Alfie down the right hand side turns 2 players and plays to his cousin Keaton, Keaton and Alex now with a 2 on 1 scenario, very unselfish from Keaton squares to Alex who smashes home from close range, Lions back into this. Again Lions push and probe trying to get back into this, Chris shouts onto the pitch to ask the ref how long... 6 minutes is the answer its time for attack, attack, attack! Lions push, Ronny, Keaton and Alex all denied! Theo H now stands over a Freekick in a dangerous position, he goes hard and low and into the wall.

Lions with all the pushing are hit on the break, Alfie gets back and takes one for the team and cleans the Stanley player out. Freekick in a dangerous area.... Freddie trying to organize his wall but Lions don't look like they know what's going on here... the referee blows his whistle and wham bam thank you mam the Stanley freekick taker dispatches a gorgeous freekick over the wall and into the bottom right corner its 2-4 and game over.

Chris and Andy look on and wonder why the hell this game wasnt won, Stanley registered only 6 shots on goal and scored 4, Lions just not clinical enough. The scoreline really doesn't tell the story as Lions dominated, however the scoreline is the only thing that matters at this time it's a loss for Lions. Alex gets man of the match after a great display and a goal too.

Tune in next week to see if Lions can get back to winning ways.
