Lions denied by woodwork against Tigers

In the battle of the big cats, Hey with Lions took on Dukinfield Tigers. Lions started with Freddie in goal, Alfie and Layton W at the back, Ronny and Keaton gave the width with Theo H through the middle, Alex started the game upfront.

The boys started off well moving the ball round and pinning the opposition back in their own half.

a rare foray into the Lions half resulted in a corner for Dukinfield, which ended in a lucky goal to be honest. Ricocheted around the box and trickled into the bottom corner 0-1

This seemed to wake the boys up and they began to move the ball around much quicker. Both Keaton and Theo H rattling the woodwork with the keeper well beat.

Leighton S and Theo were introduced and both got stuck straight in. Leighton resembling a prime Carlos Tevez up front and hassling their defence into mistakes while Theo E made a fantastic tackle and threaded the ball through to Theo H, who was again unlucky to find the post. The breakthrough finally came when Keaton fizzed one past the keeper to make it 1-1 at half time.

With Chris absent, coaches Andy and Matt told the boys to keep doing what they were doing and putting pressure on the opposition. They came out after half time and were very much the better side.

They worked the ball really well between eachother and both Leighton and Keaton were unlucky not to put us in the lead. A combination of good work by their keeper and the post again denied us in the second half. Dukinfield rarely came into our half, although one speculative effort nearly got them an undeserved goal, but a good punch from Freddie tipped it over the bar.

On another day i think the score would have been 4/5 - 1 to us, but unfortunately today luck wasn't on our side.Still it was a vert good point by the boys and a good team performance.

All the boys played really well, Matt and Andy thought however the MOM today went to Leighton S who was full of running all day and worked his socks off.

So another game to keep the momentum going for Lions, 3 games unbeaten but a very tricky fixture next week vs a strong 3D Dynamo's team, tune in next week to see if Lions come out victorious!
